Are Electric Scooters Illegal In Scotland. The First Minister was pictured riding an electric scooter. The law stipulates that only mechanically propelled vehicles may be ridden by persons aged 14.

The debate with whether electric scooters are illegal in the UK still goes on. While e-scooters can be bought and sold in Scotland police have warned that it is illegal to ride them in any public place across the UK. Using privately-owned e-scooters on UK roads is illegal and there are legitimate safety concerns both for riders and pedestrians.
An investigation by Edinburgh Live shows that capital locals are continuing to ride e-scooters along pavements and busy public places despite it being illegal.
But cops have warned its against the law to ride a privately owned e-scooter. Riding an electric scooter in public is strictly considered illegal. Electric scooters have been growing in popularity over the last couple of years and whilst not fully legal yet there are many electric scooters on the roads already. The Transport Committee of MPs has called for e-scooters to be legalised on roads but not pavements.
